Bizzie Bees,

I went to see Kathy's show a couple weeks ago and was inspired to try out painting on cardboard like she does, as well as on other found materials around my home.

I recently had some deliveries so was not in shortage of cardboard. I also found small packaging boxes in my recycle bin to use. I first read about pangolins in a National Geographic magazine and then learned on a visit to Kadoorie Farm that they can be found in Hong Kong. They're covered in scales and can curl up into a ball.

The pangolin I painted from a reference photo and the ninja racoon is from my imagination. I started with an outline, filled in the shape, and when the layer was dry, went over with details using a thinner brush. I quite like the texture of the brown cardboard box behind the pangolin.

See what you have around the house that you can experiment with and paint on. We'd love to see your artwork too so share it with us on our facebook page or tag us— #bizziebeehk @bizziebeecraftkits

Kathy's show is up for a few more days at Kubrick in Yau Ma Tei. Catch it before it closes on Saturday, September 30.
