How has 2018 been going and how are you preparing for the Lunar New Year and welcoming the Year of the Dog? These are some watercolours I painted from the series Dogs I Know and I think this year is the perfect time to add more portraits to it.
For our February Finds, here are some things happening around Hong Kong to take your family to this month:
LOVE Long: Robert Indiana and Asia The exhibit opens today, February 7 and will be at the Asia Society until July 15, 2018. They're also having OPEN STUDIO: With LOVE this Sunday, February 11 (free, register online).
See the lanterns set up for Lunar New Year at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza in Tsim Sha Tsui. Dates are February 9 to March 4, 2018. The lanterns are lit each evening from 6-11pm.
"Have you ever had insomnia? What would you do during your sleepless nights? For the fifth Comix Cart display, we welcome Torres to tell us his bedtime story. To be held on February 10, “Torres’ Lullaby” will be a first-ever, cross-media collaboration between illustrator 009 and musician Pik-Sum Chan, bringing on an auditory and visual feast that marries fantastical illustrations and Chinese classical music. Prepare your pajamas and get ready for the sensational, sensory journey through Torres’ sleepless night."
Pixar 30 Years of Animation: Hong Kong Celebration of Friendship and Family This has been on since November 2017 and closes next month on March 5, 2018. While you're at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, also check out Moving Tales of Hong Kong Animation: Hong Kong Animation Development from 2007 to 2017
René Magritte: The Revealing Image – Photos and Films The exhibition is on at ArtisTree until February 19. Check for special opening hours and dates closed over CNY.
